PRP injections offer a completely natural treatment for addressing pain and injuries. At the Foot and Ankle Institute of Maryland, we are proud to offer PRP injections to the residents of Baltimore, Columbia, Annapolis, and the neighboring communities of Maryland.
What Are PRP Injections?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections are an advanced restorative treatment that uses the healing properties in your own blood to stimulate healing and relieve pain. Blood plasma contains growth factors and platelets that can accelerate the body’s healing process by stimulating the growth of tissue and bone. When injected into the body, the PRP jumpstarts the healing process in the treatment area. Patients typically notice results from PRP injections within just a few weeks of treatment.
How Much Do PRP Injections Cost?
The cost of PRP injections at the Foot and Ankle Institute of Maryland is $350. We also accept insurance and financing options to make our treatments more affordable. During your consultation with Dr. Harrison, our lead podiatrist, you will review your eligibility for insurance coverage and financing to determine the final cost of your treatment.
How Are PRP Injections Performed?
PRP injections are performed using blood collected from the patient, so there is no risk of allergic reaction or negative side effects. The first step of treatment is collecting a sample of blood. Then, the blood plasma is separated from the rest of the blood by placing the blood in a machine called a centrifuge. The blood plasma will contain all of the platelets from your blood sample, creating the platelet-rich plasma. Once this process is complete, the PRP will be injected into the appropriate treatment area.
How Are PRP Injections Used for Joint Pain Treatment?
For joint pain, PRP will be produced from the patient’s blood. Then, injections will be made into the joint or joints that are causing pain.
How Are PRP Injections Used for Muscle Pain Treatment?
If muscles are a source of pain or injury, PRP injections can be performed on the specific muscle or muscle group. This treatment will help the muscles heal, reducing pain within several days.
How Are PRP Injections Used for Ligament Pain Treatment?
If you are experiencing pain in one of your ligaments, PRP injections can be used to stimulate healing and strengthen the affected ligament. PRP injections will be placed into and around the ligament to produce the desired results.
How Are PRP Injections Used for Tendon Pain Treatment?
Tendon pain can also be treated using the natural PRP treatment. After PRP is obtained, it will be injected into and around the tendon that is causing pain. The injections will stimulate the healing process to provide relief over the following weeks.
